About Us
Karen G. Lautenschlager has lived most of her life in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia; a place she calls home. During her pre-teen years, she would spend time with her mother at the sewing table. So many questions were asked of her mother about decorating, use of colors, and rearrangement of furniture. “I have always been passionate about design and decorating since I was old enough to move and re-arrange furniture. As a teen-ager I would sew, play with color and transform my bedroom into my own personal space to best suited my individuality. “The reality of it is…I’m still doing it!”
Karen’s high school curriculum involved fashion design and interior design classes. There she learned form, function, color, aesthetics and design. “I envisioned my dream home, and even designed and built my home for our family!”
As a single mother raising three daughters, plus working full time in the architectural/graphic design profession, Karen still found time to continue her education in interior design, one class at a time. “I gained so much knowledge and lifelong skills, but eventually realized that I did not have to acquire a degree to show my talents. I felt the need to explore other options. I realized that in this economy, I could help families show their houses.” Karen researched her options and found that Home Staging Resources would be a great opportunity to do just that. With the expertise and training offered to her, Karen is now able to combine her love and passion of decorating and design principles and provide the homeseller with “a different view” of their house. Or, for homeowners inclined to remain in their house, Karen can provide a refreshed and redesigned home that matches their lifestyle and personality.
Karen articulates, “We take pride in our extraordinary services. We are participating members of the American Society of Home Stagers and Redesigners (ASHSR) and Real Estate Staging Association (RESA). We are also affiliatiated with the New River Valley Association of Realtors (NRVAR), and certified through Home Staging Resources.”
